Don’t you love taking something simple and making it into something great, useful or pretty? My generous husband recently allowed me to get a tool which has opened up so many new creative opportunities.
While on holiday last year I went to Kamers with a friend. We got chatting about laser-cutting, how expensive lasers are and how much you can do with them. She told me that she knew of an alternative and after sending me a link I was 100% SOLD! I had to wait until we got back to Cape Town after my Community Service year away, but finally I’ve got my very own Silhouette Cameo die-cutting machine.
Take CourageFor those who don’t know what a Cameo is, it’s basically a nifty little printer, that instead of printing uses a blade to cut through your paper/cardboard/vinyl/fabric/plastic/stickers. Amazing right?
Here are a few of the little projects I’ve done so far. There will be many more to come, including free downloadable cutting files.
Paper cut bird wall decor
Origami Animal Stencil
Recycling Vinyl Sticker (I was tired of having to tell people which bin was for recycling and which was for normal waste 🙂Circle Pattern Stencil (I made the stencil as a gift for a friend, to show her what the Silhouette Cameo could do. She used it to paint this fabric and kindly made me this cushion in return)
I’ve also used it to make a “Dietitian” sign for my practice door and a few other things. There are so may possibilities and I’m so excited to learn more.
Do you have any tricks for using a Silhouettte Cameo or any project ideas? Let me know 🙂
