After nearly a year and a half (including a pregnancy, global pandemic and a now 8 month old baby) I finally have a new blog post up. The steps on how I made this doll’s bed are available at the link in my bio. I’m genuinely surprised that ice cream sticks can look that good 😂

Dollhouse (in progress) tour // It’s not finished, but it still looks better than my own home 😂

I intended to make a doll’s house as a midyear birthday present, but never got around to it. Instead we ended up buying this gorgeous house from @tinydollhouse_za for Christmas and then I’ve DIY’d most of the inside.

I’ll be sharing tutorials on the blog soon for the bed, couch, fridge, sink, oven, shelf, wallpaper and maybe the mini rainbow so stay tuned. EVERYTHING is removable which makes redecorating extra easy!

Swipe through to see how the full house is set up for play at the moment. The bathroom is still basically empty, apart from a dummy sterilizer tub as a bath 😂, but I’m a little in love with the kitchen ❤️

FIVE MONTHS // The little guy officially made it to 5 months a week and a half ago. While this photo was taken on time, I just haven’t gotten around to posting it.
I can’t quite believe it’s almost time for solids. Time is really going quickly!
You’re so close to rolling onto your tummy, love talking (loud enough so daddy’s colleagues can hear you on the phone from across the house) and are so adored by your big sister.
My boy, we love you, but we also like sleep and wouldn’t mind having a little more of that 😉

FOUR MONTHS // It feels like it’s gone both real

FOUR MONTHS // It feels like it’s gone both really quickly and really slowly. A third of a year! This month you’ve found your voice much more and sit cooing away to yourself, until it’s too much and you get upset. Your sister loves copying you and talking back too. Your smile is adorable and relatively freely given.
Still wondering how old he’ll be when some people meet him. People we’d normally see every week at church may well see him for the first time when he’s already crawling. Crazy!

When you’re going on a family walk and you know

When you’re going on a family walk and you know that there’s a great patch of flowers near the forest, you take the camera along 💛 This year, more than ever before, we’re ready for a new season, for spring. Fresh flowers in the garden, the sun actually making it onto our grass, warmer evenings and fun outdoor adventures. I’ve been working away on a new business project too, which I’ll hopefully reveal soon! 🎉

Love notes from my toddler ❤️

Grateful for anything that buys me some time; provided it buys me more time than the resulting clean up that’s required 😂

Top tip: let your kid go wild with a letter board (provided they know not to put the letters in their mouth)

It’s good to get away. Last week we spent two ni

It’s good to get away. Last week we spent two nights at @gardenroutegamelodge. We’ve been watching @wildearthofficial live safaris on YouTube during lockdown so the idea of going on a real game drive was so exciting for Bubs! Cheetah, lion, elephant, hippo, rhino and so much more.
A three year olds highlights:
- “Driving” the game drive vehicle. Our ranger was really great with her!
- Seeing (and feeding) the elephants.
- Getting a special cap and wearing her glasses on it to match our ranger.
- Sleeping in a special room with mommy and daddy.

Highlights for me:
- Watching the world unfold in a new way through a three year old’s eyes.
- Seeing her confidence with the animals and new surroundings.
- Beautiful game drives that will make for special family memories.
- Not having to cook for multiple meals in a row!
- Feeding elephants. I’m really scared of elephants in the wild, but these ones were previously trained for elephant encounters elsewhere. They are now able to roam freely, but still CHOOSE to come into the shelter at night. It was really special.

@gardenroutegamelodge is based just outside of Albertinia, about 4 hours driving time from Cape Town, and has some amazing specials running at the moment. Be sure to check them out! It’s a great option for a family friendly game experience or a romantic getaway. More photos in my stories.

THREE MONTHS // Time is such a strange thing. It’s gone so quickly, yet it also feels like it’s been a very long three months!
Thinking of all the pregnant and new moms in this time! One of the best descriptions I’ve seen is that at this special time things feel “muted”. Minimal family and social interaction, not able to show off your cherished new person or growing belly (and excitement!) and feeling like people are missing out on seeing them grow (while you miss out on the free moments that someone else holding them gives you). Things will improve, it will go back to being “normal”, but for now it’s still ok to find it difficult! It’s ok to feel like you’ve missed out. And it’s ok to be disappointed. ❤️
