So now you’ve set up your Etsy shop and listed some items helped by the first post in the series, but you need to be able to be able to receive payment. That’s a pretty vital part of running a business right? Unfortunately Direct Payments (Apple pay, Google wallet, Credit cards etc) are not supported in South Africa yet so in order to receive payment for Etsy sales you need to have a PayPal account. To get the money out of PayPal you then have to use an FNB Online banking profile (more on that in the next post). Once this is all set up it’s a pretty simple process. Follow the steps below to set up and link PayPal to your Etsy shop.
Signing up for PayPal
Visit paypal.com and select Sign up. For use with Etsy choose a PayPal business account as it allows you to withdraw money from credit card purchases rather than just buy things with the money in the account. This is also needed to comply with South African regulations.
Follow the PayPal steps, filling in your details as you go along.
Link PayPal to Etsy
To link your new PayPal account to Etsy, log-in to Etsy, select Your shop > Finances > Accepted Payments. (If your shop is not yet open click on Get Paid)
Select the PayPal option and you will be prompted to enter your PayPal account email address. This is the email address you have just used to sign up for PayPal.
All payments made will now go directly into your PayPal account. But now, how do you get the money out of PayPal? Follow along on Bloglovin’ or Facebook for the next post that will help you actually get your hard earned money into your bank account.
You can find Part 1 of this series here and Part 3 here, where you’ll learn how to set up your Etsy shop and withdraw your money into a South African bank account.
