Two months have gone since my last “monthly” income and traffic report, WHOOPS! But you know what? I didn’t feel like I had much to say about it last month. I was probably also a bit embarrassed that I hadn’t done enough work on my goals for the month. But don’t worry, I’ll try make up for it this month. Grab your tea and see how the last two months at Pure Sweet Joy have been, what I’ve learnt and what I’m trying to be better at.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?:
The point of showing you my stats on a monthly basis is so that you can come along with me on the journey of improving Pure Sweet Joy. I’m aiming for transparency that can keep me striving for my best, as well as help you in your own blogging journey. I know, I know, it’s not only about the numbers, but it is a good way to measure progress. Each month I intend to post my Google Analytics stats, along with any expenses and earnings that I may have received. I’ll also speak about any changes or improvements made, accomplishments achieved and challenges faced that month.
Changes
I have started investing more into Pure Sweet Joy. If I am wanting other people to invest in me then I have to be prepared to invest in myself. One of the first ways of doing this is making use of the vast knowledge that is available online. I loved going through all the useful information in the #coolphotoschool online blog photography course by Sugar & Cloth. I’ve really been trying to up my game when it comes to blog photos and there are so many great tips in the course. Go check it out!
As a spin of learning from #coolphotoschool I also finally took the plunge into getting Lightroom. It is amazing!
I am also trying to engage with other bloggers more by commenting on their posts, liking people’s Instagram photos and engaging on Facebook. I have got into such a bad habit of being a social media consumer and giving nothing back. Engagement is so valuable these days. This is also hugely important for networking, as at the end of the day we can all help each other out (and just be friends too). I’ve been consuming over in snapchat land for a while, but now you can find me there sharing some behind the scene details (when I remember).
Something else I did for the first time, was send out my media kit to some brands who I would love to work with. Already, looking back I can cringe at some mistakes I’ve made in approaching brands, but hey, you’ve got to start somewhere and learn. Next time, will be better.
Challenges
As always, my biggest challenge is still time. And of course all the time that I waste doesn’t help… Relaxing is important, very important in fact! But so much of my time spent “relaxing” is actually just passing time, rather than doing something that is energising.
Goals
Since January I’ve been aiming to get my newsletter up and running. I’ve got a great list of subscribers going, but up until now they’ve just been receiving all blog posts directly to their inbox. No frills, no special extras, nothing exciting. How BORING! But that is FINALLY about to change. I have my template all set up, so be sure to sign up to the newsletter to get in on all the fun and freebies. The first one will be going out in the next few days, woohoo!
My goal for the coming month is to keep up with blog post consistency and quality. I will also hopefully be working on some sponsored work and my main goal with that it to keep it all 100% genuine. Yes, it is nice to make a little money from blogging, but I feel strongly that it still needs to reflect me and the Pure Sweet Joy brand AND be of value to my readers. We’re in this together, guys!
