Cape Town, what a treat! Soon after Michael got back from his first work trip back to Cape Town I was having a tough time and managed to find some great flights back home (Travelstart is a good place to look). Booking flights about 6 weeks in advance gave me something great to look forward to help me keep going.
Walking off the plane and smelling the sea air…bliss. Now I’m not the type of person who goes to the beach every day in summer, but the smell of the sea air meant that I was HOME (even if it was just for a week).
Being a crafty person I have struggled this year with not really feeling like I can do that much. Supplies aren’t readily available and anything that I make now will likely have to be left behind at the end of the year. Also, I’m spoilt living in Cape Town where you are surrounded by design and inspiration ALL THE TIME. For this reason I was super excited to find that Kamers Vol Geskenke was on at the Castle of Good Hope while I was around. Some good friendship time and inspiration was so worth it!
We carried on our travelling start to June with a camping trip to Sabie for the long weekend with a few friends from the hospital. Camping trip to Sabie in mid-June? You might say that we’re crazy, and you’d probably be right! My goodness Saturday night was freezing cold, literally. I slept in tights, tracksuit pants, two pairs of socks, t-shirt, hoodie (hood on), beanie, wrapped in a big blanket, inside my sleeping bag. I was still not warm enough. In the morning there was ice on the cars and the grass was showing the residues of the freezing temperatures.
Thankfully (after some prayer) the next day and night was a little warmer and we managed a trip to God’s Window, Harrie’s Pancakes in Graskop and some better sleep.
Friends and family at home, you are loved and missed! We are looking forward to the next time that we see you 🙂
