Today we went on a drive to a nearby area known as Naas. The road was by far the worst “tarred” road that either of us have been on. They are currently working on the main road to get there, thank goodness, so we had to take a detour through the township.
The townships here are very different to the ones in Cape Town. The ground is fertile, which allows people to grow mielies etc around there houses. Most of the houses also seem like they are decently sized brick houses, some with fences around them. Space is not an issue here like it is in Cape Town.
We were really amazed by the fact that there were a few children on the one section of the road who were shoveling ground from the side of the road into the potholes. It seemed as if cars passing by would give them some money. That is a pretty innovative and useful money making idea!
Our house is still quite a mess, but posting some pictures now will allow you to follow progress as we try to make this home.
This is the view from where we park our car
